さて、今回の映画は「ハイキュー‼︎ゴミ捨て場の決戦」です。
春の高校バレー3回戦、日向翔陽(声・村瀬歩)が所属し、影山飛雄(声・石川界人)が正セッターを務める宮城県代表烏野高校は黒尾鉄朗(声・中村悠一)が率い弧爪研磨(声・梶裕貴)が正セッターを務める東京都代表音駒高校と相対することになった。合宿などで幾度となく対戦しながら公式戦では一度もぶつかったことの無い両校が雌雄を決する時が来た。カラスとネコというそれぞれの校名になぞらえ「ゴミ捨て場の決戦」と呼ばれる因縁の対決が今始まる…！
2012〜2020年まで週刊少年ジャンプで連載された「ハイキュー‼︎」、2014年からはTVアニメも放送が開始し更なるファン層を開拓しました。アニメは4シーズンに渡って製作・放送され、概ねシーズン毎に総集編も作られ限定的ながら劇場上映も行われて来た同作が初めて完全新作の劇場版が製作、先月より上映が始まっています。製作にはキャストはもちろんスタッフも満仲勧監督やキャラクターデザイン岸田隆宏以下TVシリーズの中核メンバーが再結集しています。
「ハイキュー‼︎」という作品の主人公は日向と影山ですが、今作では事実上研磨を主人公に設定しているのが大きな特徴です。最初からバレーボールが好きで楽しくて堪らない日向ではなく、バレーボールの楽しさを実はちゃんと味わっていながら自覚できずにいる研磨が物語の主軸になることで作品の主題を明確にする手腕と、試合運びがどこか俯瞰的でドライなところなど先年ヒットした「THE FIRST SLAM DUNK」と相似したところも感じられます。
この作品の出来栄えを下支えするのは実際のスポーツ中継ではなし得ないアニメならではのカメラワーク。TVシリーズからアニメ「ハイキュー‼︎」の際立った特徴の一つでしたが、劇場版となって更にダイナミズムを増しています。その極め付きと言えるのが終盤での、ある人物の主観で展開する長回しのワンショット。この映画の凄みがここに集約されていると言っても過言ではないシーンで、是非スクリーンでその迫力を味わって欲しいところですね。そこ以外でも全体を通してTVシリーズをそのまま底上げしたような端正な作画が展開するのである意味かなりゴージャスな作品です。
高密度ながら上映時間85分というスマートさで、凝縮された疾走感で最後まで駆け抜けます。ハッタリの境界線スレスレを行きながらスポーツのリアリティと研ぎ澄まされた緊張感を演出していく、「THE FIRST SLAM DUNK」と並び、現代スポーツアニメの一つの到達点と言って良いのではないでしょうか。文字通りバレーボールを観戦するような気持ちで鑑賞して欲しい1本ですね。
