昨日開催された「THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS 10th ANNIVERSARY M@GICAL WONDERLAND TOUR!!! Tropical Land」day2を配信で鑑賞。本来なら初めての沖縄公演になる予定でしたが昨今の情勢がそれを許さず別会場(どうやら幕張メッセだった様子)からの無観客配信ライブとなりました。
思わず見惚れてしまうようなパフォーマンスがバンバン飛び出す熱いライブで、実に見応えがありました。出演陣の中に最近声優としてよりもプロ雀士としての活躍が目覚ましい伊達朱里紗さんがいたのも多士済々なデレマスらしくて面白い。

陰鬱なビジュアルと不穏なBGMで幕を開ける今作は、CG主体ではなくセットで以て組み上げられたラクーンシティの衰退しつつある街並みや、1998年という時代設定を十二分に活かすビデオデッキやポケベルなどのガジェット（インターネットもちゃんとダイヤルアップ接続である）などが醸し出す雰囲気はなかなかです。
また、監督が原作ゲームの大ファンなのか、全編に渡りかなりの数の小ネタが仕込んであるのも特徴です。予告編でも使われていた「振り向きゾンビ」だけでなく、ある場所には赤・青・緑のハーブが置いてありますし、ショットガンの弾薬の箱や部屋を開ける鍵の意匠などが原作に沿ったものになっていたり、「かゆい うま」のフレーズが登場するくだりがあったりします。この辺りを探してみるのも楽しいでしょう。
登場人物の造形についてもシリーズ初期のものに倣っているようで、クリスはマッチョゴリラではありませんし、レオンも後々の凄腕エージェント感は1㎜も無く、赴任初日にエグい目に遭う青年の頼りなげな右往左往ぶりが良く表現できていると思います。
ゲームに忠実な作品を仕上げようという姿勢に好感が持てる一方で、映画そのものの出来栄えとしては特に後半に行くほど多すぎる要素をまとめるのに手いっぱいの慌ただしさが目につき、序盤に成功した雰囲気作りも活用しきれておらずいささか弾んでいかないのが残念なところ。この辺り、作中のシーンがゲームへとフィードバックされたりもしたポール・W・S・アンダーソン監督版の方が勢いもパワーもあったと言わざるを得ません。
