さて、今回の映画は「ルパン三世」です。
何を思ったかついうっかり観に行ってしまいました。
ルパン三世(小栗旬)は凄腕の大泥棒だが、峰不二子(黒木メイサ)を救うためせっかく手にした獲物もライバルのマイケル・リー（ジェリー・イェン）に奪われ、さらに大恩ある大富豪トーマス・ドーソンの命をも奪われてしまう。そこでルパンは次元大介(玉山鉄二)、石川五エ門(綾野剛)らとチームを組み、秘法を巡る復讐戦に挑むことになる。
何と言っても小栗旬の見事な役作りに目が行きます。もともと細身の身体を筋肉量を落とさぬままさらに8㎏ほど減量したそうで、ルパンの赤や緑のジャケットが実に似合います。故・山田康雄が完成させ栗田貫一が受け継いだあの独特の軽妙洒脱な喋りも上手い具合に小栗流に落とし込めていて、驚かされます。
次元大介役玉山鉄二、石川五エ門役綾野剛、銭形警部役浅野忠信もそれぞれのアプローチで難役を物にしておりなかなか見事なのですが、残念ながら黒木メイサの峰不二子は決定的に「何か」が欠けています。具体的にそれが何かは分からずじまいなのですが、演技力以前の所で足りません。
また困った事にこの映画最大の欠点は小栗旬がせっかくここまでのルパン像を作り上げているのにシナリオと演出が追いついていない点です。
基本的にこの映画、133分の長尺ながら不要なシーンや過剰に盛り過ぎのシーンが非常に多いのがまずもって問題で、サスペンスフルであるはずのシーンで緊張感が無かったりとかザラです。2,30分削って105分前後にまとまっていればもう少し評価も上がったのでしょうが。もしかしたらきっと尺の関係から編集し直されるであろう地上波放送版の方が面白くなってるかもしれません。
物語の方もせっかくお披露目するならルパン一味をもっとクローズアップして欲しかったなと思えるほど、サブキャラクターに深く入り込み過ぎで、それを悪いとは言い切れませんが、どことなく観客の「観たい」からはずれている気がしました。
製作したＴＶ局がアニメを放送した日テレではなくＴＢＳだからか、大野雄二のあのテーマ曲が使われないのも残念ではありますが、ＢＧＭは結構大野音楽をリスペクトしたビッグバンドジャズでかなりカッコいいのが救いです。ただし、うるさいくらいに使われ過ぎていて帳消し気味ですが(苦笑)
あまり出来が良い映画とは言えないのですが、できれば監督を変えてもう1本、もっとスマートかつスタイリッシュに仕上がったものを観てみたい、と思ってしまったあたり、キャラクターの確立には成功してると言えそうです。
正直なところ、小栗旬始め主要キャストのファンでもなければ大して観る価値も無いような気がしますが、長い人生の2時間半をちょっと無駄遣いしてみたい方、怖いもの見たさでトライしてみるのはアリかも知れませんよ(笑)
